WHITE DRESS FOR A WEDDING???

30-03-2008

One of the main rule of the International bon-ton quotes : “ if you attend a wedding – and you are not the bride – it is absolutely forbidden, prohibited, unthinkable to dress in white”. That could make you think that you may wear any other colors, but that’s not true either. If you are sensitive to the bon-ton rules you should know that there are some colors which will not be appreciated unless you are attending a wedding with very particular features. For example, if it is true that you can always dress in black, and that black is an evergreen, which makes you slim, taller etc, this does not apply to a wedding unless it is held late in the evening or at night or an elegant or evening gown is required. If the wedding is in spring or in summer pastel colors or fancy patterns – but not too extreme -are usually recommended. If you want to be safe, go for navy or brown in all its declinations from camel to chocolate. Another important detail is stockings, wear them or not? Difficult to say yes or no, I would suggest “just watch what your legs are telling you!!!!”
